A New Semester!Welcome Back Anime Kurabu! I hope everyone's semester starts out relatively smooth and will little hassle.
As always, we will NOT be meeting this first week, so NO MEETING 1/13/17!! Our First Meeting will be NEXT FRIDAY, 1/20/17, in the Hidalgo Room of the HUC (2.214) We are trying to see if we can get a better/bigger room for the first meeting so watch out for updates between now and then, if the room is changed I will be posting the updated info on Facebook, here, and in the groupme! Have a great first week! ...and our 2nd Pot Luck is coming up!This week our meeting will be in the Hidalgo and our theme is Music!
Next week is our 2nd pot luck of the semester! It will be Thanksgiving themed, we're basically having an early Thanksgiving. Anime Kurabu officers will provide the Main Dishes (meats, like the Turkey or Ham) and we request that everyone else bring side dishes, snacks, drinks, and deserts! Go check out the Facebook page for the Event where we are making a Master Post where everyone will put what they're bringing! As always we will have games to play, movies to watch, and (if it's fixed) we can even chill out in the hot tub! For any questions, comments, or concerns please go over to Facebook and contact one of the officers!
No Meeting This Week!
Thank you everyone who helped on Sunday!OCTOBER has a lot of stuff going on!!Our Halloween meeting (to be held on the 28th since the 31st is on a Monday) is only 3 weeks away, but before then we have three major events:
1. Window Wars - Sunday, 10/16 @ 3pm, Uc/Paseo 2. JASSA Japan Fest - Sunday, 10/16 @ 11am-5pm, Japanese Gardens Downtown 3. Best Fest! - Friday, 10/21 @ 4:30pm-10:30pm, All of these events are good opportunities for club members to get volunteer hours, which will go towards the End of Semester Raffel, where the most active member will receive a single weekend pass for San Japan X! The JASSA even WAS going to be a Maid Cafe, but JASSA is no longer able to fund the , snacks themselves and Anime Kurabu can't pay for enough snacks for around 2,000 people, so we will just be hosting our Ball Toss (so it's like a warm up for Best Fest next week!). For all the members who were going to be maids or otherwise help with the Cafe, we still need your help, you will still get volunteer hours (as long as you're a paying member), and we are still trying to organize the carpool situation, you just have less you need to do - no serving food, just hang around the booth to get people to come play, help us catch stray balls, and Dress to Impress~ (Maid/Butler outfits are still OK, but also any other Cosplay is OK too~) Window Wars has already been taken care of so only the members who were directly spoken to about this need to worry about it! As for Best Fest itself, all paying members will get more volunteer hours and we will really appreciate anyone who can help us man the booth until it ends at 10:30pm, because we can't leave early or we will be fined! We will be setting up times next week where members can come help with Best Fest Decorations (if you can) so watch Facebook for those (and any other) updates! The meeting this Friday will be back in the Hidalgo room, our theme this week is Mystery! We hope to see you all there! :D IT'S PARTY TIME! :DTomorrow, October 1st, 2016 will be Anime Kurabu's first Potluck for the Fall 2016 semester!
We will be in Chaparral Village, building 15 (by the pool)! If you don't know where Chaparral Village is, let an officer know in the GroupMe or on Facebook and we can set up a different meeting area to show people where to go. If you know where Chaparral Village is, but don't know how to get to building 15, contact us just like above and we can send someone out to guide you in! We seem to have a pretty balances spread set up for tomorrow, though a few people are still not exactly sure what they are bringing so there will be some surprises in store for all of us! xD Building 15 has a refrigerator, stove, and oven that we are free to use, so if you have something that needs to be chilled/heated, or if you want to throw your casserole together then cook it once you arrive that's fine as well! Other than food, we will be showing a movie or two, and there will be places to set up games (video, board, or card), as well as the pool of course. Speaking of the pool, if you feel up for a swim (or a soak in the toasty hot tub) bring your swimming gear! We will not be providing anything pool related (like towels) so bring your own. Building 15 has a laundry area so feel free to dry your towel(S) and/or bathing suits after you swim. If you have any other questions, comments, or concerns, let me (this is Meghan!) or one of the other officers know! :D See you all tomorrow~ Welcome to week 2 Anime Kurabu! This week we're going to jump more into the technical side of things. We will be discussing the need for Shadow Officers, Volunteers, and Membership Fees!
We will be passing out sign up sheets for anyone who is interested in being a Shadow Officer (though we will only take a limited amount of people so make sure you really intend to work towards becoming a future officer before applying please!). We will also tell you guys all about our sub-committees! Shout Paradox, Anime Gamers, and Tabletop are some of the returning committees, along with what might be a brand new committee, but I'll save that for later this week ;3 This week we really will be in the Hidalgo room (HUC 2.214), but we might change locations mid-meeting if there are too many people/not enough room so if it seems really crowded when you show up please hang around for a bit before leaving to see if we will be changing to a larger room. Don't forget to check here and on Facebook for updates during the week so we can make sure everyone knows where we'll be and has an idea of what we'll be doing! IMPORTANT UPDATE!
For our FIRST meeting, Friday September 9th, we will be in the MH Building (McKinney Humanities building), room 2.01.32. All of our other meetings, unless otherwise specified, will be in the Hidalgo room in the HUC. We will place a note on the Hidalgo room door for anyone who does not see this notice or the one on Facebook, or if they didn't receive or read the email that was sent out to everyone who singed up at the Involvement Fair. It is likely that we will also have a member or officer hanging around to direct people to the correct room tomorrow, but if all else fails as contact us on Facebook! For our new comers: membership is not mandatory to enjoy our club, so don't worry about due dates or anything. We will give you plenty of time to decide if you think paying for membership is worth it (more info on this will come in the second meeting). As for the meeting itself, we will be voting on what anime to watch throughout the semester and we'll be getting to know everyone with some ice breaker games! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at via facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/utsaanimekurabu/ or email [email protected] See you all there! :D We hope everyone had a fun and relaxing summer!
The Fall 2016 semester is going to start out a little weird for us, here's what's up: We always have our first meeting on the second week of school, however, this year that falls on the Friday of San Japan! Anime Kurabu has been invited by San Japan to have a booth, so like half of the officers and hard core club members will be busy at San Japan that day - either manning our club's booth or volunteering for the Con itself, and we don't want any newcomers to show up to a practically dead first meeting. SO Our first club meeting won't be until SEPTEMBER 9th, the Friday AFTER San Japan! We will be in the Hidalgo room this semester pretty much every week. I will let everyone know if something happens and that changes, but for right now the Hidalgo is officially ours! Good luck during your first few weeks of classes and we hope to see some familiar faces at San Japan, and even more at club meetings! Also, there is a poster for club handing in the stairwell of the UC that you should all check out cuz it's super cute! ;D |
